Help with Shelfari

• What is Shelfari?

  Shelfari is an interactive social media site for book lovers. Using Shelfari, you can create a personal shelf of your books, see what your friends are reading, get and give recommendations for what to read next, create book lists, and even share your opinion on a book with friends or the growing Shelfari community.

• Why does the world need Shelfari?

  Shelfari is a place to find new and interesting books that might not otherwise come up in general conversation with your friends. Shelfari is about expressing who you are through your books, and being able to react to books once you’ve read them. You are what you read.

• How do I link with my Shelfari.com account?

  If you already have an account on Shelfari.com, you can link your MySpace account so that your books and other preferences will occur in both places!

  To Link your account:

  Click "settings" in the upper right corner
  Enter the email address & password of your Shelfari.com account
  Click link!

  If you're having problems linking accounts, give the server a smack :)   On the bottom of the settings page, there is a "Smack the Server" button, click it.Once the application reloads, try linking accounts again.If that doesn't work, let us know.

• How do I add a book to my shelf?

  Search for a book from your shelf and click the “Add to My Shelf” button. This will add it to the list of books you’ve read. If you want to add it to a different list, click the little arrow on the right side of the button.Clicking the arrow reveals a menu that will allow you to add the book to your Read, Reading, Plan to read, Wish list, or Own shelves (see the image below). It also allows you to mark a book as favorite. To remove a book from a list, just uncheck the list name.

  
• How do I mark books as "I've Read", "I'm Reading", "I plan to read", "Wish List", "Own" or "Favorite"?

• Can I import books from an existing library catalog application like LibraryThing or Delicious Library?

  Yes! You'll need to create an account at Shelfari.com. Once you do, you can link your accounts from the settings page (above) and the books you add from Shelfari.com will appear on your shelf. You can import books from your Amazon wish list, Delicious Library, LibraryThing, tab-delimited files, and more. Visit the Build a Shelf page on Shelfari.com for more information.

• Can I export a list of the books on my shelf?

  You can: from the Shelfari.com settings page there is an option to export your shelf.
